• Teeth whitening procedure at the dentist clinic: this method includes the following steps:

1. Apply vitamin C on lips and gum to protect them from ultraviolet rays that used during the teeth whitening.
2. Space the lips using special tool for extra protection.
3. Apply the whitening gel on teeth (hydrogen peroxide).
4. Focusing the Argon light on the teeth for 15 to 20 minutes; to allow the material to be analyzed.
5. Rinse off the gel that applied on the teeth.

Note: the dentist may give the patients a rest after the second session to make sure that there is no allergic reaction.

• Teeth whitening procedure at home: patients can have the same results as that when it is done at the clinic. They can apply Hydrogen peroxide on the teeth, and then they cover them with a “night guard” -like orthodontics tools- and kept all the night till the morning to be washed. This procedure may take 7 to 10 days, but it has to be done under the supervision of the dentist.

As mentioned above, if you whiten your teeth at home or at the dentist’s, you will get the same result. But doing that at the dentist’s takes a shorter time.

Patients can benefit from teeth whitening and have the white color they need only for 6 months to one year approximately, after that the problem of yellowish teeth may be re-appear.

In order to avoid changing of normal teeth color, all the dentist keeps advise their patients to take care of their teeth by decreasing the rate of consuming caffeinated beverages such as, tea and coffee, beside taking care of teeth by using a good tooth paste and keeping continuous cleaning.
